Official TEDx performer/speaker, officially endorsed Yamaha artist, Sako Dermenjian is a virtuosic classical and contemporary guitarist with Armenian heritage, he was born and raised in Syria and then moved to Sydney, Australia. He is renowned for his ensemble playing, Orchestra (Solo) as well as his interpretation and promotion of the modern Classical/Spanish guitar repertoire.

Sako Dermenjian is a High Distinction Graduate (Highest Guitar mark) of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he read both for Bachelor of Music (Performance) and Master's degree with a full merit scholarship in Classical Guitar.

 

He has studied with Russian virtuoso Dr Vladimir Gorbach and has received numerous masterclasses from industry professionals such as Denis Azabagić, Lorenzo Micheli and many more. Sako won the Middle Eastern Guitar Competition (2006-2008), Sydney Eisteddfod Guitar Prize (2018) and many more. He is an international touring artist, currently residing in KSA, UAE.

 

Festival appearances include Peak Festival Perisher, Sydney Folk Festival, Armenian Film Festival (Sydney & Melbourne), Melbourne Guitar Festival, Crooked River Wine Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival and more. Other events include Illawarra Hawks (NBA) matches, WIN Stadium New Year’s Eve Event (2017), many concerts in big classical auditoriums like Sydney Opera House, Sydney City Recital Hall and many more.

In addition to private events such as the City of Sydney and Wollongong Australia Day Celebrations and many high Corporate events for the NSW Premier, Sako also appeared on Fine Music FM, SBS Radio, ABC Sydney, and ABC Illawarra.

 

Sako plays a range of Yamaha guitars and a Jayson Elazzi Cedar top handmade classical guitar.
